Women in Construction Week 2025 takes place 2 – 8 March and this year’s theme is “Together We Rise”. The week is an opportunity to highlight the vital contributions of women in the construction industry and encourage greater inclusivity in a traditionally male-dominated field.

At MIDA Civil Engineering, we are proud to champion diversity and provide opportunities for women to thrive in various roles across the company.

We recognise the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where talent is valued regardless of gender and value the achievements of our female employees who play crucial roles across numerous departments, including: Accounts, Marketing, Technical, Health & Safety, Operations, Customer Care, Procurement & Plant.

Meet some of MIDA’s inspiring employees

Danielle Luscombe has been in the construction industry for over 17 years and is a key member of MIDA’s procurement team as a Senior Buyer.  Danielle’s expertise is invaluable in ensuring our projects have the materials they need to succeed.

Sarah Moody took a bold step in changing careers a few years ago to join MIDA’s HSEQT team.  Her ability to transfer skills from her previous role has enabled her to make a significant impact in maintaining high safety standards across the company.

Holly McEvoy has been part of the construction industry for seven years, gaining experience in Plant & Fleet Management before transitioning into MIDA’s Operations team. She now works closely with our on-site teams.

At MIDA Civils, we believe that diverse perspectives contribute towards innovation and excellence.  Women in Construction Week is a time for celebration, but also a reminder of the need to continue advocating for gender equality in the industry.

By highlighting the achievements of professionals like Danielle, Sarah, and Holly, we hope to encourage more women to explore opportunities in civil engineering and contribute to shaping the future of the industry.  You can read their full interviews below:

Danielle Luscombe

Can you tell us about your career in the construction industry and a bit about your current role?

I have worked in the construction industry for over 17 years. After finishing my A Levels at school, I started work for a specialist supplier of civil engineering, drainage, environmental and plastic building products. My role was predominately selling products, ordering & organising deliveries. After over a decade with the same company I made the jump to MIDA, sitting in the procurement team where my knowledge of materials has been helpful. –

What are some of your favourite things about working in the industry?

It’s a fast-paced industry which I love, and I get to work with a variety of different people and departments at MIDA which keeps it interesting.

What would you say to other women considering starting their career or switching careers, about a career in construction?

Do it! It’s a great industry, with a diverse range of roles that could suit you or your skillset from previous jobs.

Sarah Moody

Can you tell us about your career in the construction industry and a bit about your current role?

I’ve been working as a Health, Safety, Environment and Training Co-ordinator in MIDA’s Health & Safety department for almost three years.  I co-ordinate internal and external training and manage training systems for office and site staff, facilitate new starter inductions and assist with the day to day running of the department.

What are some of your favourite things about working in the industry?

Its highly rewarding with plenty of variety, no two days are ever the same!

What would you say to other women considering starting their career or switching careers, about a career in construction?

Go for it you, won’t regret it!

Holly McEvoy

Can you tell us about your career in the construction industry and a bit about your current role?

I started working within the industry in 2019 after several years of account management I decided to welcome a change in a role that would be more office based to support my future plans of starting a family.

My experience in construction began within Plant & Fleet which has evolved over time, allowing me to learn & develop within different sectors of the construction industry – learning the lingo took me a while!

What are some of your favourite things about working in the industry?

I enjoy the fast pace of the industry, I love to keep busy and it just doesn’t ever stop within construction!

We have some amazing employees at MIDA that make work enjoyable and have built a team of people with a wealth of experience.

I am fortunate enough to have had two beautiful children since working at MIDA and been supported throughout this in adapting roles that allow me to continue to work.

What would you say to other women considering starting their career or switching careers, about a career in construction?

Construction has historically been a male dominated industry, but at MIDA we have proven that women can be very successful. If you are considering a switch, I would say go for it!
